Molise: discover the region

Tourists that choose to spend their holidays in camping sites and bungalow villages in Molise, Italy's second smallest region after Valle d’Aosta, will be spoiled for choice. The size of this region, located between Abruzzo and Puglia, is deceptive: Molise is washed by the Adriatic Sea and the hinterland landscape boasts green hills and the Apennine mountains, offering the perfect combination of nature and sea.

Molise's coastline

Molise's coast is only 35 km long and is not a mass tourism destination during the summer holidays, nevertheless it doesn't fail to surprise visitors. North of the Gargano mountain massif, delimited by the rivers that run across the Matese mountain range, Molise's coast offers sandy beaches and clear waters. For example, in Termoli: Rio Vivo beach, a favourite among water sport enthusiasts, and Sant’Antonio beach, equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas. Instead, the beautiful and well-organised Marina di Montenero di Bisaccia is on the border with Abruzzo. Among others, Molise has coastal areas surrounded by nature, with a wild, unspoiled charm, such as Marina di Petacciato and Campomarino beach. Many of the camping sites and bungalow villages in Molise are located near the beaches, especially those more popular with tourists.

Discovering Molise

Visiting Molise and discovering the beauty of this fascinating region in the centre-southern part of Italy, means exploring not only the beaches, but also the cities and the nature of its hinterland. Among the cities, the beautiful Termoli, with its great location on the coast is well worth a visit. The capital, Campobasso and Isernia, are the most representative, while the following old towns are the most interesting: Castel San Vincenzo, with beautiful views of the lake with which it shares its name; Bagnoli del Trigno, with its renowned medieval festival; Altilia with its Roman sites. The Sanctuary dell’Addolorata a Castelpetroso offers a fairytale-like atmosphere, especially in winter. Thanks to its protected areas and the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, Molise is also the ideal destination for anyone passionate about excursions surrounded by nature.
